Events as part of Darlington Arts Festival


I am  delighted to announce that I will be staging a couple of events at Darlington Arts Festival, during National Crime Reading Month in May:   

 

Title: An Introduction to Crime Fiction – Writing workshop

Event details Best-selling crime novelist John Dean is to run an Introduction to Crime Fiction creative writing workshop. John, author of 17 novels, including the recently-published Death List, is published by London-based The Book Folks and is the creator of DCI John Blizzard and DCI Jack Harris. The workshop will examine how to:

* Create a strong story, including plotting

* Create a strong sense of place

* Create strong characters

* Make the villain real

* Grab the reader from the start

* Keep the story moving

The event is part of National Crime Reading Month and Darlington Arts Festival.

Date and time: Sunday May 19, 2019 10am-1pm

Venue: Dr.inks (opposite Hash), 3 Coniscliffe Road, DL3 7EE

Price: £15 – not suitable for anyone under sixteen

Title: And The Meek Shall Inherit the Storyline - Talk

Event details: Best-selling crime novelist John Dean will give a talk looking at how conflict in the modern age drives crime fiction. John, whose books regularly feature in the best-selling charts on Amazon, is the creator of the DCI John Blizzard and DCI Jack Harris series. The writer, who has had 17 novels published, including the recently-published Death List, is with The Book Folks of London.

The event is part of National Crime Reading Month and Darlington Arts Festival

Date and time: Sunday May 19, 2019 2-3pm

Venue: Venue: Dr.inks (opposite Hash), 3 Coniscliffe Road, DL3 7EE

Price:  £3 not suitable for anyone under sixteen – free for anyone who attends John’s Sunday morning crime fiction workshop. Pay on the door.
