When the written word finds a voice

As you may know from some of my earlier blogs, I am one of the organisers of the first ever Kirkcudbright Book Week in the Dumfries and Galloway town (it finishes on Friday March 6).

The early events have been well attended and enthusiastically received and have reminded me how much people like to listen to the written word being read out loud.

Our programme (you can find it on https://kirkcudbrightbookweek.org/book-week-programme-2020/) has been a blend of established authors and new talent just breaking through. For some, it has been the first time they have read their work out loud.

The result? A mixture of established and new voices which have entertained the audiences – which is exactly what all authors should seek to do, whether they have a hundred books to their names or none.
