I am delighted to have been asked to make a short film for Dumfries and Galloway Libraries Service, my local library service, in which I answer questions about writing from some of their Facebook followers.
Work like this is particularly close to my heart because I am one of two Libraries Champions for the Crime Writers’ Association, with myself based in Scotland and fellow crime writer Priscilla Masters south of the border.
Key elements of the role include linking libraries who want crime writers as speakers with the CWA’s local chapter convenors; encouraging libraries to spread the word about the Crime Readers’ Association, which brings writers and readers together (see https://thecra.co.uk): supporting libraries under threat where appropriate, while remaining apolitical; and seeking further ways to build closer links for the good of libraries and CWA members.
You can see my film at the Dumfries & Galloway Libraries page on Facebook from 2pm on Friday July 23.
