Ever thought about writing a bestseller? Well, if you have, the talk to be given by author Ryan Stark during Kirkcudbright Book Week is well worth attending.

Ryan moved from IT Specialist to full-time novelist eight years ago. The learning curve was steep and, with no knowledge of the writing process, it was quite a journey. Yet from a standing start, he has published six novels, with another nearing completion.

His talk on Monday March 4 will show how he truly believes that anyone can become a writer. All that’s required is the right mindset, a little planning and plenty of perseverance. And, of course, an idea.

Join Ryan as he examines the process of fiction writing, sharing the tips and tricks he’s learned along the way. Using The Farm, his successful detective crime thriller, he will discuss where ideas come from and how they can be developed into an engaging synopsis. How settings and characters add colour and interest. Finally, he will look at the mechanics of expanding it into a winning outline that will engage the writer and captivate readers.

Ryan is a Midlands-based thriller writer and publisher. His Aidan Beckett and Daley and Whetstone series of crime novels have sold worldwide. Copies of The Farm, along with Ryan’s other books, can be purchased in from www.amazon.co.uk

or you can pick them up on the day of the talk.

An exciting time

Having just completed my latest DCI Blizzard crime novel for my publisher The Book Folks, this is both a nervous time and an exciting time. Nervous because, however experienced you are (and this is Book 25), it’s always a tense time as you wait for feedback from your publisher. You are never too old to learn!Exciting because your thoughts turn to the next book, which…See More
